NOTE: For installations
of running or jogging tracks with
a radius, please contact
the Mondo America Technical Department.
a. Do not install the rubber flooring
until all job site conditions and
sub-floor
preparations are met and completed.
Before starting any installation,
verify the product for type, size,
thickness, color, visual imperfections
or color variations and notify the
local Mondo distributor of any apparent
defects. No claims will be accepted
after the material has been installed.
b. Once the above steps have been
followed and/or completed, proceed
to
square the room and make the first
chalk line parallel to the length
of the room. Unroll material in
the same direction and follow the
numbered sequence. End seams should
be staggered on the floor and overlapped
approximately 6” (15 cm) and
long seams by approximately 3/16”
(0.5 cm).
c. Once unrolled, allow Mondo surface
to relax overnight.
d. End seams must NOT be trimmed
during the lay. End seam preparation
will be done 12 hours after adhesion
of rolls.
e. Dry lay all material prior to
adhesion.
Choosing the Right Trowel - Before
choosing the size of the trowel
needed, identification of the flooring
is important. In fact, Super X come
with two different backings: a smooth
backing and a waffled backing.

Adhesive Specifications
a. Mondo’s PU 100 is the
recommended adhesive to install
Super X. This adhesive has been
developed specifically for Mondo’s
Sport surfaces. Any substitution
could lead to an eventual installation
failure and void any warranty.
b. The PU 100 is a high performance
two part polyurethane adhesive for
indoor or outdoor installations
of Mondo’s Sport surfaces
over asphalt, concrete, wood, metal
and certain resilient floor coverings.
PU100 has resistance to water and
heat (up to 150 degrees Celsius
or 300 degrees Fahrenheit.) It also
provides outstanding adhesion and
elasticity at low temperatures after
installation.
c. Do not use at temperatures below
18 degrees Celsius (65 degrees Fahrenheit)
or above 40 degrees Celsius (105
degrees Fahrenheit).
d. Do not use on concrete surfaces
having more than 3 lbs. per 1000
square feet (1.36 kg per 93 meters
square) in 24 hours of moisture
emission using the calcium chloride
test. Mondo America, Inc. will NOT
guarantee the adhesion of Mondo
Super X to a floor with a moisture
vapor emission more than 3 lbs.
per 1000 square feet (1.36 kg per
93 meters squared) in 24 hours.
Adhesive Application
a. Protect the mixing area with
plastic Kraft paper or other suitable
product.
b. The proportions for the mix
are ready to use. Slowly pour the
small container of part B in the
large part of part A and stir thoroughly
with a variable speed mixer. Improper
mixing may result in a poor bond.
Using a variable speed mixer should
take no longer than 2 minutes to
mix the two parts to a creamy texture.
Over mixing will cause the catalyst
to set up too fast, reducing the
pot life.
c. Using the recommended notched
trowel ensure a proper transfer
of adhesive to cover at least 90%
of the backing of the flooring.
d. Roll back flooring starting
from end seam to middle of the piece.
Do not “flop” back –
always roll.
e. When starting the first row,
apply the adhesive evenly up to
2” (5 cm) from both edges
ad up to 12” (30 cm) from
the end of the seam.
f. When unrolling material in wet
adhesive, always check for a good
transfer of adhesive. Weights must
be applied over every seam. We recommend
concrete bricks 2” x 4”
x 8” (5 cm x 10 cm x 20 cm)
to cover completely all the seams
for a minimal period of at least
12 hours. Weighting seams with bricks
will prevent them from peaking;
sometimes it may be necessary to
double or even triple stack the
bricks depending on the thickness
and tension in the material.
g. An entire row should be glued
to the floor before starting another
row.
h. When starting the second row,
apply adhesive underneath the log
seam to be completed and the 2”
(5 cm) of the previous row, and
up to 2” (5 cm) from the next
row.
i. When unrolling the second row,
make sure it is overlapped 3/16”
(0.5 cm) and forced down to ensure
a tight and closed seam.
j. NOTE: The only reason for peaking
is a lack of weight on the seams
while the adhesive is setting.
k. Reminder: Before weighting the
seams, use extreme care to check
and immediately wipe off any excess
adhesive that may be oozing through
the seams and / or any spots of
adhesive on the surface, using denatured
alcohol. It is very difficult to
remove adhesive after it has dried.
l. IMPORTANT: Denatured alcohol
should be used sparingly. Excessive
use will swell or stain the flooring.
Do not soak the surface of the rubber
or allow the dampened cloth to remain
on rubber surface.
m. A 2” (5 cm) masking tape
will help to close gaps in the seams
and keep it in place while the adhesive
sets. Duct tape adhesive will chemically
react with the flooring surface.
n. Use a lightweight roller 100
lbs. (45 kg) or less to eliminate
entrapped air, which could remain
between the sub-floor and the sport
surface. Always roll on a 45 degree
angle, this operation is vital!
o. After adhesive has set for a
minimum period of 12 hours, end
seams can be trimmed. Cut the first
end with a straight edge and use
that side as a guide for the second
end. Although the side seams are
slightly beveled in, end seams are
not and must also be overlapped
3/16” (0.5 cm).
p. End seams must be adjusted without
applying too much pressure while
ensuring that they are perfectly
closed. Pressured seams will cause
peaking.
q. Always double or triple stack
bricks on top of end seams.
r. NOTE: The only cause for peaking
is a lack of weight on the seams
while the adhesive is setting.
s. Room perimeters should also
be weighted.
